Merge matching cupcakes. Reach White Chocolate Peppermint to win!

2048 Cupcakes

If you've played regular 2048, you already know the rules. What changes is what you're looking at: no numbers, just cupcakes. Two identical cupcakes that bump into each other get baked into a fancier one, and the calories pile up in your Kcal counter.

How to play 2048 Cupcakes

Slide the whole board with the arrow keys or W A S D, or swipe on the board if you're on a phone. Every cupcake moves as far as it can. Matching cupcakes merge, and a fresh Vanilla Birthday (now and then a Bubblegum Pink) drops into an empty spot.

Bake a White Chocolate Peppermint to win. After that you can keep going for Confetti Vanilla and the Rainbow cupcake at the very top. Slipped up? Undo takes back one move.

The cupcake menu

The hard part is that you can't read a number off a tile, so it pays to learn the order. A rough rule: the pale vanilla cakes are the first few tiers, and once chocolate bases start showing up you're into the middle of the menu. When two cupcakes look alike and you're not sure, scroll back here and check.

Where your Kcal really comes from

Scoring works differently from classic 2048. There, merging two 2s earns you just 4 points. Here, even the very first merge is worth 250 Kcal, while the top prize, White Chocolate Peppermint, only adds 2,000. Run the numbers on one full climb to the winning cupcake and roughly a third of your calories come from those first small merges alone.

So a big score isn't only about one giant cupcake. It's about surviving longer and keeping lots of small merges going.

Tips from playing it

FAQs

What's the highest cupcake you can bake?

Rainbow, two steps past the winning White Chocolate Peppermint. You can keep merging after that. The picture stays a Rainbow, but the Kcal for each merge keeps climbing.

Why can't I undo more than once?

Undo only remembers your last move. Once you make a new move, the one before it is locked in, so treat Undo as a safety net for a single slip.

Is my best score saved?

Yes, in your browser on this device. It's kept separately from the other games on this site, so your Cupcakes best won't mix with your classic 2048 best. Clearing your browser data resets it.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Swipe on the board to move the cupcakes. Swiping anywhere outside the board just scrolls the page, so you won't make a move by accident while reading.
